View Point: This Site is simply wonderful. The water was falling with such a great force that the mist was felt right here. The view is like seeing Niagra falls at NewYork. Posted by Picasa

SARDAR SAROVAR DAM, RAJPIPLA.
Located near boundary of Gujarat and Maharashatra, Sardar Sarovar Hydro dam is one of the greatest achievements achieved by our engineers. This time, I visited the dam, when the water was flowing from a height of 113 meters due to heavy rains in MadhyaPradesh. The site was simply fabulous and enchanting. I also visited the power plant and was simply astonished to see the huge turbines and alternaters and a large row of electrical panels. The control room was full of panes consisting of busbars, contactors, voltmeters, ammeters, relays, cicuit breakers, indicators and God knows which other things were stuffed inside. There was a tunnel, 1KM long leading to the power plant which was equally facinating. There were lots of people working inside in dark cool place, lighted with flood lights. There were also few Japneese engineers supervising the work. I enjoyed this trip throughly. Here are few snaps that I captured out there.
